Combats Epidemic Of Clothing Insecurity:
Clothing insecurity is the lack of access to affordable, adequate, appropriate clothing. Families facing clothing insecurity may have some clothing and shoes, however, they may not fit properly, be in wearable condition, or be seasonally appropriate for the weather. The statistics are that 2 out of 5 children in America are unable to adequately dress themselves every day. A national survey was conducted- in which, “Lack of clothing” accounted for three of the top ten reasons kids miss school. Families that are struggling to pay for rent and groceries frequently cannot afford properly fitting clothing and proper shoes, for their children. There is no significant state or federal support for children’s clothing.
Children 0 to 18 & Their Families Are Able To Select 5 Complete Outfits:
Shirt & Pants or Formal Wear
2 Pairs Of Shoes
New Package Of Underwear
New package Of Socks
Other Items Are Dependent On Season
Example: bathing suit in summer, heavy jacket in winter etc...
Holiday Events
Hosted Annually: At Christmas
Assists Families During The Holiday Season: Assures No Child Goes Without A Present At Christmas
One of the most stressful times of the year for families who live in poverty- are the holidays. Affording basic necessities is already a burden. To afford all that comes with the Holiday's, puts even more strain on these families and often proves to be an impossible task. Imagine being the parent who knows their child will wake up on Christmas morning- with no presents under the tree. There are so many things' families have to deal with, worrying about presents should not be one of them.
Parent Or Caregiver selects 1 per Child In Their Family 0 to 18
Parent goes "shopping" and selects from a wide variety of gift options, which 1 their child will like best.
Gifts are bundled together- ensuring each child receives a great gift (example: 2 nerf guns with bullets and shooting target)
Parents are given the option to have their gifts wrapped by volunteers.
IN 2019
Our first event took place, with double the number of families we were expecting. Since then, we have held several events, each one well surpassing our wildest expectations. Proving that these are events are well received with families in need and the need for it. Our last event was our biggest yet, serving over 4 thousand families in need in just two days. In all we have assisted over 15,000 families in need in Utah- together with your help- we anticipate being continuing to grow and support families in need.
80% of the items that families receive at our events are gently used quality donations. In order for our events to be successful we obtain these donations from charitable members of our community. We also rely on community members including children to volunteer at our events and witness firsthand the impact their donations have on families in need.
WE WANT TO GIVE A HUGE THANK YOU ALL COMMUNITY
MEMBERS WHO HAVE AND CONTINUE TO SUPPORT US!!!
WE TRULY COULD NOT DO IT WITHOUT YOU!!
We are the only non-profit in Utah that places a high emphasis on quality used donations, that go directly into the hands of families in need, at no cost to the family.
QUALITY USED DONATIONS?
Encourages Neighbors To Help Neighbors-
Allowing the whole family to get involved in helping their neighbors in need. Small children are encouraged to participate through the entire process, from picking out toys they no longer play with, to seeing their toys selected at our events. "The idea of kids helping other kids is such a great way to introduce children to being involved in charitable causes and volunteer work, setting them on the path to doing good for others throughout their lives" - Brandy Norwood
763,353 Families Live In Utah-
There are over 750 thousand families in Utah, with the average family having 4 children. Each of these children outgrow their clothes and toys- leaving behind piles of used quality items. The piles of quality used items, creates a surplus. Instead of piles of quality items laying around a family's home, we allow them a way to put the surplus directly into the hands of children who need them.
AREN'T THERE OTHER NON-PROFITS THAT ACCEPT USED DONATIONS?
YES, they accept used donations. While all of the organizations listed below- are amazing Utah non-profits that help many people in need. Donations they get are not put directly into the hands of children in need.
Donations recieved regardless of quality of item are bulked together and sold as trash.
Donations received are re-sold to the public. Vouchers are available in limited quantities but still require the item to be purchased at full price.
Donations received are re-sold to the public. If you specify that you want your items donated to Big Brother- they will give Big Brother a certain nominal amount for items received.
Donations received are given to people in need through a screening process but they do not collect baby items.
Donations received are put directly into the hands of children in need, at our clothing events. At no cost to the family.
